Back to Delhi

Posted by Daniel G. in Daniel G. on August 9th, 2010

We are now on a bus back to Delhi. We are all safe and debrief went very well. It was a great time of fellowship and reflection on what God did in each one of our lives. We were all able to recognize how God gave us amazing oppertunities to share the Gospel with Israeli backpackers and that through that we grew too.

Please pray for our 10 hour bus ride to Delhi. God has protected and kept us on all our travels so far and I’m confident that He will continue to. The team will depart Delhi early Wednesday morning and Eli, Josh, Yossi, Liz and I will be in Delhi a bit longer debriefing.

All ok. None of us are in Leh

Quick update. As you may have read in the news, there is much craziness in Leh right now because of a “cloudburst”. We didn’t have a team in Leh at the time, we are all fine, and God’s grace has continually been shown to us in our travels. Everyone on Massah is doing great! Thanks for your prayers.

Up north

Our team has been a bit sick the past few days. Please pray that Liz S and Shmuel A will feel better.
There are less people here then there were last week but we’ve still been able to have some great interactions with backpackers.
Please pray God will bless our last few days of evangelism and give us even more oppertunities to share His live with others.

After a week in Leh our team made the long trip down south over the second highest pass in the world (5600m). The trip was obstacle after the other but everytime our driver got us through. Just to mention some of them: a flipped over truck or two, closed road blockade, a truck stuck in the waterfall that the road goes through and so many more.

We spent 2 days together with the whole team and have now split up again and went to different areas for our last week of evangelism.

There have been many great oppertunities of evangelism and altogether we’ve talked to over a hundred Israelis about Yeshua.

Yesterday Isaac prayed with 2 Indian men to recurve the Lord!
God has been protecting us and watching over the group.

Please pray that God will fill everyone with Boldness and anoint the interactions we have this week. Please pray for his protection and that we will stay focused on Him.

On the way to Leh

On my trip over to Delhi I was supposed to have a 5 hour layover in Istanbul. But because of technical issues with the plane, after waiting close to 14 hours in the airport my flight was cancelled and I stayed at a hotel for the night.

Despite inital concerns about spending a day in Istanbul it turned out to be pretty nice. I met up with the only other Israeli on my flight, Dror. I got to witness to him a bit and we spent the whole day walking around Istanbul.

Finally after a few more delays I made it to Delhi and met up with my team. Our flight to Leh has been delayed about 4 hours and we’re waiting to board now. All the other teams are on their long bus rides and should be arriving at their destinations within a few hours.

Please pray that all are traveling will be quick and safe. Pray that God will keep us all healthy and give us meaningful interactions.

A car accident, a final and India

Posted by Daniel G. in Daniel G., Massah 2010 on July 18th, 2010

On Friday after finishing a session on Israelis in India and about evangelism there I took a taxi home to study. I was planning to get home and study for a few hours for the final I had to retake on Sunday before leaving for India to meet the team. Though on the ride home my taxi got hit from behind by an armored postal truck. Besides a sore neck and a head ache I was fine but was still taken to the hospital to be checked.

So, after spending the rest of the weekend (Saturday) studying and taking that final I’m on my way to India.

I just recieved word the all of the team has made it safetly to Delhi and are on there way to the hotel.

I’m learning that no matter how well we have things planned out and put together it’s not really in our hands. And after being in India over 4 times this is very true in India.

After I arrive I’ll be taking a team far up north to the Himalyas. Please pray for God’s protection over all our teams in India.

Cusco

Posted by Daniel G. in Daniel G. on May 15th, 2009

Yesterday I took a 12 hour bus ride from La Paz and arrived in Cusco at night. I had no Idea where to go, but I met a girl on the bus who had already been in Cusco for a month. So, I went to a small little hostel packed with Israelis.

This morning I walked around checking out the town. There are signs in Hebrew almost every other block, tons of Israelis. And it has an old cobble stone look to it.

In a few days I’m going to fly up to Lima and spend the last 2 days there before flying to NY and then to Tel-Aviv.

The Wolf…

Posted by Daniel G. in Daniel G., Massah Beit/Mobile on May 13th, 2009

Last week I departed on a 3 day jeep trip through the rural Salar sand deserts in Bolivia. It was an amazing trip with 5 other Israelis with amazing scenery that took us to an attitude of around 4900 meters! We had a great time together and while each one of us was sharing about themselves I got to share my faith with them all. From there we all traveled together to La Paz, the capital of Bolivia. We have been staying together and hanging out.

In La Paz almost all the Israelis stay at the biggest Israeli hostel in the world (as far as I know), called El Lobo (the wolf). I managed to celebrate Lag Be’Omer at the Habbad house the day we arrived. About 50 Israelis came to enjoy the fire and hanging out with other Israelis.

Tomorrow I leave for Cozco, Peru, which is also one of the biggest gathering points for Israelis in South America. I am short with time and have far distances to travel in order to make my flight from Lima next Wednesday. But hopefully I’ll have enough time in Cuzco and will be able to see Macchu Picchu.

Please pray for the friends I have made and been traveling with: Udi, Shachar, Michal, Liron and Roni.

Please pray God will continue to bless this trip and give me more insight on where Israelis are, what they are looking for and how to reach them while they are on their Massah, their Journey.

Bolivia – the Other India

After spending 2 days in northern Argentina in Salta I decided it was about time to go to Bolivia, but not before having a geat steak to say good bye with.

As I was crossing the border to Bolivia I met 2 Israelis, Shacaer and Udi and have been traveling together since.

I am now in Uyuni Bolivia and everyone comes here for only one thing, to see the Salar, amazing salt desert.

So, today along with a few other people we find we are going on an orginazed jeep trup for 3 days. We’re at an altitude above 3600 meters and it gets really cold here at nights. So, it’ll be a challange but I expect to get some great oppertunities to share the Gospel with them all.

I’ve travled about 300KM in bolivia and am yet to see apaved road, though the busses here are decent and obvisouly very cheap. Bolivia is a poor country and looks a lot like the Wild West with wide deserts with

cactuses and a sparse bushes. Along the way you’ll see houses made from clay and straw.

Many Israelis here get there stuff stolen from them when they sleep on the bus, so, I’ve been very careful about that.

I’ll try to be in touch soon.
