On the way to Leh

Posted by Daniel G. in Daniel G., Elizabeth S., Joel B., Josh L., Massah 2010, Shoshana G. on July 20th, 2010

On my trip over to Delhi I was supposed to have a 5 hour layover in Istanbul. But because of technical issues with the plane, after waiting close to 14 hours in the airport my flight was cancelled and I stayed at a hotel for the night.

Despite inital concerns about spending a day in Istanbul it turned out to be pretty nice. I met up with the only other Israeli on my flight, Dror. I got to witness to him a bit and we spent the whole day walking around Istanbul.

Finally after a few more delays I made it to Delhi and met up with my team. Our flight to Leh has been delayed about 4 hours and we’re waiting to board now. All the other teams are on their long bus rides and should be arriving at their destinations within a few hours.

Please pray that all are traveling will be quick and safe. Pray that God will keep us all healthy and give us meaningful interactions.

Spitti and kinaor valleys

Posted by Josh Lazarus in Josh L. on June 25th, 2010

After spending much time praying and thinking, we felt god had told us to go to leh. It felt like the right thing to do and everything pointed in that direction. But our hopes of an easy decision had vanished. The next morning we woke up to find out the road to leh was snnowed in. This was a blow to our moral. But soon enough we talked to Daniel and came up with the idea of doing the two famous valleys spitti and kinaur. We soon arranged a group of 10 Israelis and the next day were on our way. Soon after leaving we understood we had a great group. We all got along very well and clicked soon after meeting. The valleys were awesome! a mere spectacle of gods creation. It was hard to comprehend the power of their beauty. The vast snow covered mountains as far as the eye could see. Steap valleys covered in green pastores where flocks of wild yak and ass grazed calmly by the river side. The mountains casting a shadow thoughout the valley. The mere spectacle of this was breathtaking. While resting in gods creation we had the pleasure of sharing the gosple with the Israelis we traveled with.
They are great people and were more than happy to hear about the lord.
We returned to manaly, and have been resting here and waiting on the lord to hear what we should do next. Please pray for a renewal of our spirit and for words from him
Pray also for dani, daniel, Daniel .c., Maria, ohad, Michal, or, lilach and kiril. They are the israelis that thraveled with us.
Thank you for your prayers and support.
Josh and yossi.

south america 2010

I have a vision for the Israeli people. Israel is a country always on the line of fire. From its beginning, Israel has been under constant pressure and attempts to destroy it. The young men and women serving in the Israeli military are under constant attack. There is the daily violence. The media is extremely difficult to deal with. Sometimes the whole world seems to be pressing in on our tiny nation. Sometimes we fell as though the very survival of the nation rests on our young shoulders. The Israeli soldiers, just out of high school, deal with heavy burdens, difficult moral choices and existential issues. Serving in the army for 3 years really gets to you. It’s no wonder that most of these young soldiers travel aboard in search of the truth after they finish their army service. I can tell you this is true, for I have dealt with this same issue myself. Eighty (80!) percent of Israel’s soldiers travel abroad to places like the far east, south America and India looking for answers. They travel to forget what they have seen in the army, to forget what they had to deal with through the three years of service. One way they try to deal with the issues is by using drugs. They are lost and confused. They need help. They need to hear the truth about life.

I have spent the past 5 months talking to these young soldiers about the Lord here in India. As an ex-army officer, I understand where they are coming from. I know what stands behind their decision to get away from all the troubles in Israel. In September a group of young Messianic ex-soldiers are joining with us in South America to share the gospel with these soldiers. We are leaving on September 1st and will be sharing our lives and talking to them about faith in God for about 5 weeks. In order to make this trip happen I need about $1,500. If the Lord puts it on your heart to help with this great cause, please consider making a contribution. The Israeli people need to hear about Yeshua. When they are abroad, and in search of the truth, I believe there is no better place to share with them this awesome truth.

with love in the Yeshua,

josh

Plans for progress

Posted by Josh Lazarus in Josh L. on June 15th, 2010

Greetings to all!

Thank god for his greatness! Thank you all for your encouragments!
Sunday we spent at a local church as we planed. We went with our friend Rajan and his family. It was a great time of fellowship and worship.
As we metioned in our last post, we had some dillemas about what to do with the rest of our time. One idea was to go on a 2 week trip down 2 beautiful vallelys. After taking a day for praying and thinking, we met a friend of ours, dani. Dani is an Israeli from pardesia, he is a great guy which we had the opportunity to evangelize to. He is very inteligent and asked alot of questions about the faith. He told us he has a group of friends all leaving for a town called leh. This town is over 4,000 meters high, but because of the snows and rains, all the roads have been blocked for a few weeks. This means all the Israeli travelers wanting to go to leh have been stick in manaly for days. The catch is that the roads are opening this Thursday. Two buses full of israeli travelers have already been booked for 2 am on Thursday. As soon as we heard this news we really felt it to be an answer to prayer from god. This is what we should do. This is what we were looking for. Going to a town where two buses full of israelis are going to be, and who knows how many more will book a seat untill Thursday. After praying about it we decided this is what were going to do.
Something you can pray about- the roads to leh are very dangerous. They are said to be the highest alltitude roads in the world. The roads to there are no where near good roads. Pray that god keep us safe on the way there. Also pray that god give us great talks with people about the faith.
Communication in leh is not very dependable, so we will try and keep the blog up to date as much as we can.
Thank you very much for your prayer and thoughts, they are much needed.
With regards,
Josh.

Manaly

Well it’s been a week since we’ve arrived in manaly, and a whole lot has appened. A few days ago our friend Ariella left back for israel after being with us for a month. We had a great time with her, and had some great talks about the lord with many israelis. She is thinking of joining the team going to south America in September so please pray that god will guide her.
Manaly is a great city. It hosts many Israeli travelers on there way to different regions of India. This gives us many opportunities to speak to different people About the lord.
we are currently praying about what we should do with the rest of our time here. One idea is to go with a group of Israelis to two valleys, Spitti and Kinor. Please pray that the lord guide us and send us the right people to travel with.

Please pray for my health for I have been feeling Sick lately.

We have been away from home for 3 months and the spiritual fatiuge is being felt. Please pray the lord renews our spirits and give us strength to presevere. Tomorrow we are planning on going to a local church with our friend rajan, a local believer. He runs a small coffee shop here in manaly Which is very much popular with the israeli travelers.

Thank you so much for keeping us in your prayers.

With regards,
Josh.

daramsalla

Posted by Josh Lazarus in Josh L., Yossi S. on May 27th, 2010

well, praise god for his grace.. we had a great time in daramkot, which is a little village outside of daramsalla. it was full of israelis and we had great talks with them.

we spent a week there, talking to people and getting to know them. one day we took a hike to a waterfall which is about and hour and a half walk from daramkot. it was great, the sun was hot on our backs, and the water from the falls was freezing. in the distance, peeking from the horizon, was a great white coated mountain from which melted snow creates the river in which we bathed.
on our way back to darmakot, i got a chance to share about the lord with tal c. she is a young woman, about 21 years old. she was very open to hear about jesus, and was amazed at the idea that you could be jewish and believe in jesus. she asked many questions, and i told her of jesus’ teaching on love. she was overwhelmed and asked if she could have a new testament. i was more than happy to give her one, and we exchanged e-mails so she could write me on any questions she had about the lord. praise god!!

well now we are in kasol, and we are leaving tomorrow for some villages around the area. pray that god will give us great opportunities to talk to people.

thank you all for your prayers,

josh,

thailand….

Posted by Josh Lazarus in Josh L. on May 11th, 2010

hey everyone!
were back!! we had a great time over here. in case you didn’t know, we had a 2 week break from the massah program. the purpose of these two weeks was mainly for us to relax before going to India. we spent them in Thailand, but soon enough found out that we can’t take a brake from doing the Lord’s work! we had great opportunities to talk to people about the Lord. we had amazing talks with people and at the same time enjoyed the beauty of the Thai beaches. it was a great time for us, and we really enjoyed every moment.
after a few days in thailand, we met a friend of ours, Ariella. she is a messianic believer as well. we joined together and spent the whole time in Thailand with her. she is a powerful believer and has a great heart for talking to Israelis about the Lord. she spoke to some on her trip, and we had some great opportunity’s to speak to Israelis with her while we traveled together. after praying about it, she felt God put on her heart to come with us to India for a few weeks and join us while we talk to people about God.

today me yossi and ariella took the day to fast and pray before leaving for india. we felt like we really needed to get into the mindset of evangelizing in india. we took the time to pray and set our hearts on God. it was time well spent.

so tomorrow morning we leave for india! we are very excited for what the Lord is going to do there. we will fill you in once we land in deli.

Gods blessing on all of you, and thank you for your prayers.

the rafting

Posted by Josh Lazarus in Josh L., Uncategorized on April 15th, 2010

well yesterday we got back from a 3 day rafting trip. I must say it was a great experience!

we decided to go on the trip on the last moment. we heard adi and or, two friends of ours we met in kathmandu, that they were going on the trip so we decided it would be a good opportunity to meet israelis, and boy we were right!

we met about 25 israelis, all great people, we got really close to some of them, and had great talks with a few. please pray for Or, she had alot of questions about the faith that i was glad to answer, i hope she comes to know the lord one day.

one of the greatest things about the rafting was that many of the people we met are going to be in india when we are. we made good friendships with them and planed to meet with them in india. it was a good start and a great base of relationship for them to hear about the lord more deeply.

so tomorrow we are heading out to thailand. we will be there for two weeks, to relax alittle, and store energy for the 4 months in india. we are very much looking forward to the time in thailand, we are ready for some relaxing time, and just to hear from god about the rest of our trip. we pray god blesses our time in thailand, and that we will make some more contacts over there.

well thank you so much for all your prayers, we both are feeling much better, healthy and ready to do gods work.

untill next time,

josh
