a quick update

Posted by Elizabeth K. in Uncategorized on March 31st, 2010

it’s day three for us in this mountainous backpacker village of nepal. yesterday we were able to visit with Samuel from YWAM here and it was encouraging to see and hear about some of the work that is going on locally to promote the Gospel. He told us that they have teams that go out and pray over people and there is a lot of spiritual warfare. Josh, Daniel and I ran into a friend who lives here and were able to eat dinner with him and see his house and connect with some other believers there too.

We have been meeting a lot of people and connecting with people we met before at the Seder and in other places. Please pray that we can continue to connect with people and share with them. We are hoping to have an event with a teaching from the New Testament at the end of the week so please pray that that comes together and we have a good turn out. Pray for people that we have already talked with that they would be challenged by the message of the Gospel and interested to know more. Today Daniel, Eli, Yossi, and Josh left for a short trek so pray for them as they seek to talk to people along the way (we think this is the best way to talk with people here).

thank you so much for following us on our journey in nepal! we are excited about the conversations and interactions we’ve had and are encouraged that we have people supporting us in prayer :) .

Passover

Posted by Eli B. in Uncategorized on March 30th, 2010

Happy Passover from Nepal. We had a great seder along with 300 Israelis. Many of them we have already met and have shared the gospel with them. We spent the whole day travelling, as the roads here are sometimes ” broken” like they were today. The place we are now is much more relaxed and quiet . We are meeting up with alot of people we have already shared with. Please pray for the seeds that have been sown.. Pray for more oppertunities ! Also pray for the team that we will be united under Messiah. May his name be glorified! This is the holiday of freedom. Our nation is in bondage ! Pray that they will be freed !!

seder 2010

hi everyone!

tonightwe are going to the seder led by bet chabad. there are less people than expected signed up, but please pray that this is still a place where we can meet more people, make friends, which leads to opportunities to shre ourf faith.

so far things have been going well here. there is a coffee shop that we love to go to and have gotten into some good conversations there. blynn and i both spoke with two girls who were really interested in knowing more about Yshua, one said she would like tocome to kehila some time with blynn. I talked to a girl who was very interested in knowing more about the Brit Chadasha a, was asking a lot of questions and was open to hearing about the gospel. she said it was interesting, but she only believes all these things as history. Please pray with me that she would experience God and know His love personally.

Also, please pray for us as we switch locations tomorrow. The boys are thinking of going on a trek. There are not as many people here as we were expecting, but pray that God would connect us with the people who are open and searching. Thanks for all of your support!! It is so encouraging to know that you are all out there reading and praying :)

The first few days

Posted by Daniel G. in Uncategorized on March 27th, 2010

Up till two hours before our flight it wasn’t for sure that we’d all
be going to Nepal. Miracoulsly after rushing to the Indian embassy Liz
was able to get her passport given to her by an Israeli who works
there. The day before both Eli and Kathleen recoeved their visas too.

Everything leading up to our departure shows me how much God wanted
each one of is Nepal. So, with very litle trouble we arrived in
Kathmandu safely with all our luggage.

There are Habbad all around promoting the Seder and inviting people to
it. We’ve been able to get aquainted with the tourist area and
interact with a few backpackers.

Last night we net with some believers and had a good time of worship,
prayer and fellowship together. This morning we visited a local church
down the block from our guest house. Even though we didn’t understand
what was being said most the time it was great to meet Nepali believers.

Later today we’re going on a short hike around Kathmandu and going to
try to hook up with other backpackers.

Please pray that God will continue to keep us healthy. Pray that God
will show us where and how to share the Gospel with other backpackers
around us.

We prayed for a miracle…and we got one!!!

It is really a miracle that I’m writing this blog from Nepal. I asked for prayer that I would receive my visa in time, and I got it literally 3 hours before our flight. This involved many phone calls to a tour agency in Israel (which shall remain nameless :) and the Indian Embassy. I was hung up on and told I’d be “called back” but after days of calling I received approval for my visa the day we were supposed to leave at 2:00 (with our flight leaving at 17:45). Then I had to have the tour agency pick it up for me (this is strict policy with the Indian embassy), but they couldn’t go until 4:00. So, I decided to call someone who worked at the Indian embassy who had been helping me the day before. He said he would do what he could and aks the security at the Indian Embassy to let me in, but he wasn’t sure. So Daniel and I went to the Embassy and begged at the get, but they wouldnt let me in. Then Tomer, my friend from the embassy who I had talked to, showed up in his van. He went up to the Visa section for me and got my passport for me with the visa included. Considering the security there, this is seriously a miracle. I couldn’t believe it actually happened and the whole taxi ride to the airport I was in amazement!!!! Please pray that this is the first of many miracles on our trip to Nepal. I am not the only one who was blessed by God’s provision: half our team received our visas less than 24 hours before the flight!!! Anyway, thank you so so much for all of your prayers. We have had one full day in Nepal and are getting a feel for what it’s like here. Continue to pray that we can be bold in sharing and that God would open the hearts and minds of those that we talk with.

visas

Hi everyone!

Thank you for your prayers as we are preparing to leave for Nepal. We are all really excited, but still have some final things that need to wrap up before we can leave.

First I’ll update you on the visa situation: 2/3 of us who were in need of our visas received them today. Praise God!! But, I still need to get my visa back from the Indian Embassy and when I called today it still wasn’t complete. Please pray that this will come through in time for our flight tomorrow. Our flight was pushed back by 12 hours by the airline yesterday, which I don’t think was a coincidence :) .

Here are some other ways you can be praying for us right now:

Our flights, that all the connections will be made smoothly and safely.

Spiritual Preparation

Team Unity

Pray that God will open opportunities for us to meet new people when we get there and that we would build connections easily.

Thanks for following us as we start our journey- more updates to come!!!
